Zoom Maths Club - Areas of Polygons and Applications - Professor Peter Giblin OBE

31st October 2020
I'll guide you through a remarkable theorem due to G.Pick (a friend of Einstein) in 1899 which gives a formula for the area of a polygon whose corners are all at points in the plane with both coordinates an integer (a 'lattice polygon'). This theorem has many applications in other areas (!) of mathematics and I'll introduce some of those too. There will be plenty of opportunity for audience participation.
