Recurrence relations describe how successive terms in a sequence are related. The talk will explore different types of recurrence relations and look at what information about the sequence it is possible to deduce from these, and whether there are any badly behaved relations which may hinder us in our ultimate goal of describing a sequence completely by obtaining an explicit formula for every term.
