Cutting a Region in half; and some Trigonometric Equations - Sasha Movchan and Peter Giblin
28th October 2000
The first part of this presentation looks at cutting a region in half using curves. There are many different curves which 'cut in half' any given region, but do any two of these curves always intersect each other? The answer is perhaps slightly less obvious than it seems at first. The presentation moves on to discussing trigonometric problems and identities - how do
sin,
cos and
tan relate to each other?
