Miscellaneous
Facebook: If we have met in person before, feel free to add me as a friend on facebook.
Paper/reference manager: In my experience it makes a great difference to use a paper manager to organize the thousands of papers related to our research. My favourite one is Mendeley. It's free and really useful. Alternatively, you can find a more complete list in Wikipedia.
Transfering money: The cheapest way I know to send money between different countries, sort of putting everything in your pocket and boarding a plane, is to use TransferWise. It's not free, but it's the best you can do and it definitely is cheaper than any bank. Also, get a friend to refer you and your first transaction will be free. If you don't already know anyone who uses it, you can use my referal link instead.
Is it raining? You cannot be in the UK for any amount of time without loving the rain. This is the site I always check before I decide to move from point A to point B: www.raintoday.co.uk.
Hobbies
Argentine Tango: I really love dancing tango and I am heavily involved with Tango Aires Liverpool. If you are in Liverpool, come and give it a try. If you can walk, you can do it!
Skydiving: During the weekends, if the weather is good, we leave fear at home (and maybe our sanity as well...) and we go skydiving! This is a must-do, one-in-a-lifetime experience and as far as I know the UK is the only country in the world with university skydiving clubs. Do not miss this opportunity to jump! For more info visit the British Parachute Association.
