Who can attend the UTC Masterclasses and Clubs?

Children currently attending the MEM Masterclass series ARE eligible to apply.
New applications are also equally welcome.

What are the UTC Masterclasses?

The 2016 Masterclasses will run on Saturdays during the Spring and Summer terms, and will provide an excellent opportunity for able and enthusiastic pupils from all over the North West to meet up and explore ideas in both mathematics and science. Sessions will be staffed by university lecturers, qualified teachers, PGCE trainees and undergraduate students. Each Masterclass will consist of two sessions, one either side of a break for lunch. Pupils will do maths in one session and science in the other.

The mathematics sessions will be supported by Mathematical Education on Merseyside and will follow the familiar style of the traditional MEM Mathematics Masterclasses held in the Autumn term but covering new areas of mathematics.

The science sessions will be organised and supported by Science Education on Merseyside and will provide an excellent opportunity for pupils to complete their Bronze CREST Award whilst exploring science ideas, teamwork, transferable skills and independent research.

There are light refreshments in the morning and afternoon, but pupils must bring their own packed lunch.

How are the UTC Masterclasses funded?

Liverpool Life Sciences UTC is providing hosting facilities and staffing for the sessions.
Parents or schools are asked to make a small contribution of £20 per pupil towards the running costs of the series.

Where are the UTC Masterclasses held?

All the sessions will take place in one city centre venue:
Liverpool Life Sciences UTC, CUC Building, Greenland Street, Liverpool, L1 0BS.
Parking is available on street outside the building.
Parents are able to wait in the reception area if they would like to.
