PostGrad/PostDoc Discussion Group, Liverpool Theoretical Physics, Year 2004/05

Our internal PostGrad/PostDoc Discussion Group will happen as announced on Fridays, 1pm in our seminar room 117 (alternating with the Journal Club Discussion Forum).

• First meeting, 12th November 2004:
  * Collection of general physics questions.
  * Questions about recent seminar talks (TH + Exp).
  * Technical (computer, programming) issues we could cover in coming meetings.
  * Which topic do we want to learn more about? (Books or review articles suitable for this?)

• 2nd meeting, 19th November, 2pm:
  * General questions / seminar debrief.
  * Topical discussion: `Dark matter, dark energy' (Matt and Craig). For preparation, see e.g. astro-ph/0207347.
  

• 3rd meeting, 3rd December, 2pm:
  * General questions / seminar debrief.
  * Topical discussion: `Schwinger-Dyson equations' (Charles). For preparation see the handout or a textbook of your choice.
  * Discussion of jargon in numerical lattice QCD research (Craig).
  

• 4th meeting, 18th Feb. 2005, 1pm:
  * General questions / seminar debrief.
  * Topical discussion: Short introduction to Perl by Zbyszek.
  

• 5th meeting, 27th May, 1pm:
  * Topical discussion: `Chiral Perturbation Theory, a user's guide' by Craig .

• 8th meeting, 1st July, 1pm:
  * Topical discussion about nonperturbative renormalization (Craig and Charles).
