`Induced Chern-Simons Terms from Massive Matter - A String Theorist's Perspective' Abstract: It's been a point of much interest that Chern-Simons terms can be created in an action by integrating out massive fermions to one-loop. This has interesting applications when considering Aharony and Giveon Kutasov Dualities. These are 3d electric-magnetic (low energy) dualities where the former applies to cases with zero Chern-Simons coefficient and the latter applies to theories with non-zero Chern-Simons coefficient. So we see that by integrating out massive fermions we can alter the Chern-Simons level and thus switch between these dualities. We look at this for numerous massive fermions. We then look at this for bifundamental fermions, however the bifundamental case is a work in progress.
