`The Future of Science'  by  Gerard 't Hooft  (Utrecht University)

Summary: Science and technology will continue to change our living 
conditions and our social relationships. Indeed, new discoveries are 
waiting for us in the near future, both concerning outer space and 
the space of the ultra tiny things, the elementary particles. However, 
Science-Fiction authors are not a reliable source if you wish to 
speculate about the future. Presently, the Laws of Nature are so well 
understood that we are able to extrapolate in a much better way. There 
are severe limitations as to what humanity can do in space, but there 
are also exciting possibilities. But, the information revolution has 
only just begun.
