I will introduce a family of four-dimensional black branes designed to have vanishing entropy density in the limit of zero temperature and thereby satisfy the 3rd Law of Thermodynamics (Nernst Law). This feature along with the unusual scaling properties of their geometries makes them excellent candidates for potential holographic duals to certain systems in condensed matter physics. We will see that this solution suffers not only from some singular behaviour but also incomplete thermodynamics. There are however clues that this four-dimensional solution is only part of a higher dimensional picture and I will demonstrate how lifting the solution to five dimensions provides a nice resolution to all of these problems.
